1. Introduction

ChatManager is an Android application that lets you manage your device's chats through three core features:

  • Message capture: persists locally the notifications emitted by your installed messaging apps. Because the notification is delivered to the device at the time of sending, captured messages remain in ChatManager even if the sender later deletes them from the original chat.
  • Automatic rules: lets you configure conditions to reply automatically, alert you or log events on incoming messages.
  • Statistics and reports: generates analytics, rankings and PDF reports based on captured messages.

This policy describes what data the app handles, for what purpose, with whom (if anyone) it is shared and what control you have over it. The data controller is the developer of ChatManager, reachable at getchatmanager@gmail.com.

2. Core principle

Your messages never leave your device. The app does not run servers that receive, store or process the content of your conversations. All processing happens locally on your Android phone.

3. System permissions and their purpose

  • Notification access (NotificationListenerService): required to read notifications from your messaging apps and process them with the rules you define.
  • Push notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): to emit alerts and reminders from within the app.
  • Battery optimization exclusion: optional, needed for auto-replies and rules to work with the screen off.
  • Internet: only for optional account features (sync, authentication, in-app purchases).

4. Data handled locally

The local database on your device stores:

  • Conversations and messages captured from messaging apps, including those the sender may later delete from the original chat. This happens because the notification was already delivered to the device at the time of sending and ChatManager persists it locally.
  • Rules and banned words you have configured.
  • Aggregated statistics from your chats.
  • App configuration and preferences.

This data is never transmitted to external servers under any circumstances. ChatManager does not sell data, does not share it with third parties for advertising purposes and does not use it to train machine-learning models.

5. Data synced (only if you create an account)

If you choose to create an account, only the minimum necessary is synced so you can restore your configuration on another device:

  • Email and authentication credentials (managed by Firebase Authentication).
  • Rule and banned-word definitions (not the messages that trigger those rules).
  • Premium subscription status.

This data is stored in Firestore tied to your account identifier. You can delete it at any time from Menu → Privacy → Delete account.

6. Payments and subscriptions

Premium purchases are processed through Google Play Billing. ChatManager does not receive or store credit-card data. Your subscription status is synced with your account if you have one.

7. Advertising (Free users)

The Free tier shows ads served by Google AdMob. To personalize and measure these ads, AdMob and its certified partners may process:

  • Android Advertising ID: a resettable identifier assigned by the operating system. You can view, reset or delete it from Device settings → Google → Ads.
  • Approximate location: derived from the IP address, not from GPS.
  • Ad usage data: impressions, clicks, view time.

The full list of Google-certified ad partners that may receive this information is available at support.google.com/admob/answer/9012903. ChatManager does not share with AdMob or with those partners the content of your messages or any additional personal data.

In regions with legal requirements (EEA, UK, Switzerland, California and other regulated US states), before loading ads we display the official form of Google's User Messaging Platform SDK so you can choose your consent level. You can change your choice at any time from Menu → Privacy → Privacy options.

8. Rights for EEA and UK residents (GDPR)

If you reside in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the processing of advertising data described in section 7 is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we process about you.
  • Request its rectification or erasure.
  • Object to processing or request its restriction.
  • Request the portability of your data.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing. You can do this from Menu → Privacy → Privacy options inside the app.
  • Lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority (in the UK, the ICO; ico.org.uk).

To exercise any of these rights write to getchatmanager@gmail.com.

9. Rights for California and other US-state residents

If you reside in California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Florida, Oregon, Montana, Delaware, Iowa, Tennessee or another state with equivalent privacy laws, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and similar laws.

Categories of information that may be processed in connection with advertising (section 7):

  • Identifiers (Advertising ID).
  • Internet or application activity (interactions with ads).
  • Geolocation inferences derived from IP address.

You have the right to:

  • Opt out of the sale or sharing ("Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information") of your personal information with advertising partners. You can exercise this right from Menu → Privacy → Privacy options; when you do, AdMob applies Restricted Data Processing and ads become non-personalized.
  • Know what personal information has been collected about you.
  • Request the deletion of your personal information.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

To submit a verifiable request for access, deletion or correction, write to getchatmanager@gmail.com indicating the state where you reside.

10. Retention

  • Local data: kept as long as the app is installed. You can delete it at any time from Menu → Privacy → Delete all data.
  • Conversation history: 7 days on Free, unlimited on Premium.
  • Synced account data: until you delete your account or request its removal.

11. Security

Local data lives in the app's private storage, protected by Android's app isolation. You can optionally enable biometric lock to require authentication when opening ChatManager. Backups you export manually are signed with HMAC-SHA256 to verify integrity.

12. Your general rights

You can at any time: revoke system permissions, delete all local data, delete your remote account, disable sync, and export your data in a readable format.

13. Children

ChatManager is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has used the app, contact us so we can proceed with deletion.

14. Changes to this policy

When we update this policy we will change the date at the top of the document and, if changes are material, we will notify you inside the app.

15. Contact
